What is a PMS color?
PMS stands for Pantone Matching System. This is a color system developed to help designers and printers get matching color results. For instance, a company's logo that use a specific blue for example PMS 280, which is a navy blue. Designers and printers will know what blue to use and what the design should look like. For the artwork to be uniform in look, style and color no matter who prints it. They all would use the same color specications for this logo, PMS 280.
